Assassinations of Indigenous Movement leaders in Mexico and Guatemala this week by right-wing death squads have prodemocracy activists throughout Latin America nervous about a possible escalation of US military violence there. With the horrific atrocities of the last half-century still fresh in their minds, the sixty million Indios south of the US border are understandably on edge.
