Facts Need Not Apply at NBC News...

Last friday while the left side of blogtopia (yes! we coined that phrase!) was keeping an eye on dan rather’s replacement, bob “my brother works for the bushes” shieffer, we happened to take a look at nbc night news with brian “never reported from the field” williams. brian started out bad enough…when he quoted the recent ap poll, he framed it in the most postive way possible: “more than 1/3 of americans approve of the president’s plan!” he conveniently left out that a majority of americans (56%) disapprove of awol’s approach.

Besides the fact they're flagrant propagandists in the business of shaping public opinion instead of reflecting it, one of the things that irritates me to no end is how Talking Heads, Inc., make the occasional late night TV rounds - Leno, Letterman, etc. - to show us they're really bright, funny people not so different from you and me. The charm offensive is necessary for one reason: They are in the business of obfuscating facts, not disseminating them. Far from having any common interests with the likes of anyone at the helm of the evening news, these people are my enemies and enemies of democracy. To consider them anything less is to cede our national fate to the oligarchy that unleashed the monster of Fascism on America.
