What Constitutional Crisis?
Oh, come on. You didn't really believe the NeoCon Uncle Sam would refrain from monitoring your phone and e-mail communications since September 11th, 2001, did you?
News of the Bush-NSA Great American Spy Machine doesn't come as much of a revelation to those of us who long ago abandoned our sentimental attachment to the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Democratic Party. Russ Feingold called it "shocking" but a more apt description would be "obvious to anyone with a pulse for the last five years."
Because George W. Bush assumed presidential office on tidal wave of judicial malevolence and with precisely zero authority granted by the U.S. Constitution, the outcome of Bush v. Gore - economic plunder, mass death and injury through willful violence and callous indifference, the Culture of Corruption, the dominance of the Lobbyist State, "Watch what you say, what you do," and the Republic's expedited fall - all of this was a fate accompli. It's why so many of us were mourning as every pundit and politician near a camera or microphone reveled in the tireless chorus of GET OVER IT.
Like civil society, currency and Amway ventures, the United States Constitution is only functional when citzens actually believe in it. Given the overwhelming condemnation of Bush v. Gore by legal scholars, it is not unreasonable to see The Constitution for what it has actually become: a fig leaf for the elitists currently running America in the ground.
The United States Constitution simply ceased to be on December 12, 2000, when Antonin Scalia and the rest of the Supreme Court's Dirty Five forced their unelected ideological puppet on a shit-faced population drunk to the gills on nearly a decade's worth of relative peace and prosperity. Memo to the Ghost Of The Fourth Estate: We've been in a perpetual "Constitutional Crisis" ever since. Thanks for finally noticing.
